Housing & Communities

Affordable, sustainable, and community-driven.

Together Britain Collective backs co-operative and affordable housing, local development funds for regeneration, and greater power for neighbourhoods to improve shared spaces and infrastructure. The aim is stronger communities, reduced inequality, and more local investment.

What We Propose

  • Encourage co-operative and affordable housing projects — Planning support, grants, and finance for community-led and affordable housing so that more people can access secure, fairly priced homes.
  • Local development funds for community regeneration — Dedicated funding for high streets, green spaces, and community assets, with input from residents and local organisations.
  • Empower neighbourhoods to improve shared spaces and infrastructure — Participatory budgeting and community rights to shape local improvements, from play areas to transport and safety.

Funding & Costings

Item Annual Cost / Revenue Notes
Co-operative & affordable housing (grants & finance) £2–3bn Gap funding, loan guarantees, land assembly; leverages private investment
Local development / regeneration funds £1.5–2bn High streets, parks, community buildings; match-funded where possible
Neighbourhood empowerment & participatory schemes £0.3–0.5bn Administration, facilitation, small grants; overlaps with civic engagement

Total estimated cost: £3.8–5.5bn/year. Part of this can be capital (one-off or multi-year) for housing and regeneration; revenue spending for empowerment and facilitation.
