Health & Wellbeing

Preventative care and mental health for all.

Together Britain Collective supports universal access to mental health support, subsidised fitness and nutrition programmes, and community health hubs. These initiatives are integrated with Universal Wellbeing Fund credits so that every citizen can invest in their own health and wellbeing.

What We Propose

  • Universal access to mental health support — Expanded talking therapies, counselling, and crisis support, with shorter waiting times and options that can be partly funded via UWF credits.
  • Subsidised fitness and nutrition programmes — Discounts or credits for gym membership, sports clubs, and evidence-based nutrition and lifestyle programmes.
  • Community health hubs — Local spaces for exercise classes, mental health drop-ins, wellbeing workshops, and social prescribing, supporting both physical and mental health.

Funding & Costings

Health and wellbeing spending is partly covered by the Universal Wellbeing Fund (citizens use credits for approved services). Additional direct government or partner funding is needed for infrastructure and subsidies.

Item Annual Cost / Revenue Notes
Mental health expansion (NHS & community) £1.5–2bn Additional capacity, reduced waits; part offset by UWF usage
Fitness & nutrition subsidies £0.5–0.8bn Subsidies for providers; UWF credits cover user spend
Community health hubs (setup & run) £0.4–0.6bn Premises, staff, programmes; linked to local authorities

Total additional direct cost: ~£2.4–3.4bn/year. UWF credits (separate budget) allow citizens to spend on approved health and wellbeing services, reducing pressure on purely grant-funded programmes.

Impact

  • Better mental health outcomes and earlier intervention
  • More people able to access fitness and nutrition support
  • Stronger local networks and reduced isolation through community hubs
