Environment & Sustainability
Practical action for a greener Britain.
Together Britain Collective supports green business grants for SMEs, incentives for renewable energy and low-emission transport, and community green initiatives such as urban gardens and renewable co-ops. Funding is integrated with economic policy, small business grants, and community funds.
What We Propose
- Green Business Grants for SMEs — Grants for businesses adopting sustainable practices: energy efficiency, waste reduction, sustainable supply chains, and green certification.
- Incentives for renewable energy, energy efficiency, and low-emission transport — Support for rooftop solar, insulation, heat pumps, and electric vehicles (including charging and fleet transition for small firms).
- Community green initiatives — Urban gardens, renewable energy co-ops, local parks and tree-planting, and community-owned green assets.
Funding & Costings
| Item | Annual Cost / Revenue | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Green business grants (SMEs) | £0.8–1.2bn | Capital and revenue grants; part of small business support |
| Renewable & efficiency incentives | £1.5–2.5bn | Grants, vouchers, loan subsidies; households and SMEs |
| Low-emission transport support | £0.5–1bn | EV grants, charging infrastructure, fleet transition |
| Community green initiatives | £0.4–0.7bn | Gardens, co-ops, parks; can align with participatory budgeting |
Total estimated cost: £3.2–5.4bn/year. Integrated with economic policy and small business support. Some schemes generate long-term savings (e.g. lower energy bills) or revenue (e.g. renewable generation).
Impact
- Lower emissions and resource use from businesses and households
- More jobs in green sectors and supply chains
