Code of Conduct
Together Britain Collective
Adopted: 26 February 2026 · Applies to all members, officers, volunteers, representatives, contractors, and affiliated local groups.
1. Purpose
This Code of Conduct sets out the standards of behaviour expected of all individuals associated with Together Britain Collective (“the Collective”).
It exists to:
- Promote integrity, accountability, and professionalism
- Protect members and the public
- Safeguard the reputation of the Collective
- Ensure a respectful, inclusive, and lawful civic movement
- Provide clarity on disciplinary expectations
Membership of the Collective constitutes agreement to comply with this Code.
2. Core Principles
All members and representatives must act in accordance with the following principles:
2.1 Integrity
Act honestly, ethically, and transparently in all dealings connected to the Collective.
2.2 Respect
Treat all individuals with dignity, courtesy, and fairness regardless of political opinion, background, or belief.
2.3 Accountability
Accept responsibility for actions and decisions made in the name of the Collective.
2.4 Lawfulness
Comply with all applicable UK laws and regulations.
2.5 Public Confidence
Act in a way that strengthens public trust in the Collective and civic engagement more broadly.
3. Expected Standards of Behaviour
All members must:
- Uphold the Constitution and aims of the Collective.
- Engage in debate respectfully and constructively.
- Refrain from abusive, threatening, or discriminatory behaviour.
- Act in good faith and avoid conduct likely to bring the Collective into disrepute.
- Declare any relevant conflicts of interest.
- Follow established governance and decision-making procedures.
- Respect confidentiality where required.
4. Equality, Diversity & Inclusion
Together Britain Collective is committed to creating an inclusive civic movement.
The following behaviours are strictly prohibited:
- Harassment
- Bullying
- Discrimination
- Hate speech
- Victimisation
This applies both online and offline.
Members must not discriminate based on:
- Race or ethnicity
- Religion or belief
- Sex or gender
- Sexual orientation
- Disability
- Age
- Socioeconomic background
- Political viewpoint within lawful boundaries
Constructive disagreement is welcomed. Personal attacks are not.
5. Online & Social Media Conduct
Because members may be publicly associated with the Collective, responsible online conduct is essential.
Members must:
- Avoid posting abusive, defamatory, or unlawful content.
- Not claim to speak on behalf of the Collective without authorisation.
- Distinguish clearly between personal opinions and official positions.
- Avoid sharing misinformation knowingly.
- Not engage in coordinated harassment or trolling.
Where a member identifies themselves as affiliated with the Collective online, this Code applies fully.
6. Representation & Media
Only authorised representatives may:
- Issue official statements
- Speak to media on behalf of the Collective
- Announce policy positions
Unauthorised representation may result in disciplinary action.
Members are free to express personal views but must not imply official endorsement without approval.
7. Financial Integrity
Members and officers must:
- Use Collective funds only for authorised purposes
- Submit accurate expense claims
- Avoid misuse of donations
- Comply with financial procedures
Fraud, misrepresentation, or financial misconduct will result in immediate disciplinary review and may be reported to relevant authorities.
8. Conflicts of Interest
Members must declare any personal, financial, or professional interest that could influence decision-making.
Where a conflict exists, the individual must:
- Disclose the conflict in writing
- Refrain from participating in related decisions
- Follow guidance from leadership
Failure to disclose conflicts may constitute misconduct.
9. Safeguarding & Welfare
All members must:
- Promote safe environments at events and meetings
- Avoid behaviour that may place vulnerable individuals at risk
- Report safeguarding concerns promptly
Any behaviour posing risk to children or vulnerable adults will result in immediate suspension pending investigation.
10. Confidentiality
Members must respect confidential information relating to:
- Membership data
- Internal discussions
- Financial information
- Strategic planning
Confidential information must not be disclosed without proper authorisation.
11. Prohibited Conduct
The following may result in suspension or expulsion:
- Criminal activity
- Incitement to violence
- Hate speech or extremist activity
- Harassment or bullying
- Financial misconduct
- Deliberate reputational damage
- Repeated disruptive behaviour
- Breach of the Constitution
- Gross misconduct at events
12. Complaints & Disciplinary Process
Alleged breaches of this Code will be handled through a fair and proportionate process:
- Complaint submitted in writing
- Preliminary review by designated officer
- Investigation where necessary
- Opportunity for the member to respond
- Decision communicated in writing
Possible outcomes:
- No action
- Written warning
- Suspension
- Removal from role
- Expulsion from membership
An appeal process will be available.
13. Suspension
The Collective reserves the right to suspend membership pending investigation where:
- There is potential risk to others
- Reputational damage is likely
- Serious allegations are made
Suspension is neutral and does not imply guilt.
14. Duty to Cooperate
Members must cooperate with investigations conducted under this Code.
Failure to cooperate may itself constitute misconduct.
15. Commitment to Democratic Culture
Together Britain Collective encourages:
- Robust debate
- Open policy discussion
- Member-led initiatives
However, debate must remain civil, respectful, and constructive.
Democracy thrives on difference. It collapses under hostility.
16. Amendments
This Code may be amended in accordance with the Constitution.
Members will be notified of any changes.
17. Acceptance
By joining or continuing membership of Together Britain Collective, individuals confirm that they:
- Have read this Code of Conduct
- Agree to abide by its standards
- Understand that breaches may result in disciplinary action
